Listening to the Soul: a Cardiocentric Resonance Model for the Helping Relationship

Deborah Leanza.

Abstract
Background: The professional helping relationship, within the context of traditional counseling and coaching, is often limited by models centered on problem-solving and personality analysis. These approaches, while technically valid, risk triggering a “noise of beliefs” in the professional that filters and obscures the authentic perception of the other person. Modern neurocardiology and Cardiocentric Scalar Somatognosics (SSC) offer a new paradigm for understanding the helping relationship as a phenomenon of informational resonance.

Objective: This study aims to develop an operational model of “Listening to the Soul” that integrates the competencies of Transpersonal Counseling with the principles of Cardiocentric Scalar Somatognosy, defining the professional’s role as a “conscious witness” within a cardiocentric “field of resonance.”
Methods: A literature review was conducted on Transpersonal Counseling, neurocardiology, Polyvagal Theory, and Cardiocentric Scalar Somatognosics. The theoretical model was supplemented with the analysis of a case study based on the author’s professional experience; she underwent a process of personal and professional transformation following a traumatic event and subsequently integrated that experience into the practice of Bioenergetic Transpersonal Counseling.

Results: The model identifies three levels of soul consciousness (the soul that “does not know,” that “discovers itself,” and that “recognizes itself”) and defines deep listening as a tool for restoring the coherence of the cardiac field, overcoming the “noise of beliefs.” Listening to the soul is formalized as a process of heart-centered resonance that takes place within a “field of presence.” The professional’s role shifts from that of an “expert” to that of a “mindful witness,” whose task is not to facilitate the resolution of a problem or the achievement of a goal, but to accompany the individual in recognizing their essential nature.

Conclusions: “Listening to the Soul” represents a new paradigm for the helping professions, founded on heart-centered resonance and on the professional’s ability to connect with their own soul in order to authentically connect with the other. This model opens new perspectives for clinical practice and research, offering a theoretical framework that integrates the psychological, neuroscientific, and spiritual dimensions of the helping relationship.

Key words: Listening to the Soul, Transpersonal Counseling, Cardiocentric Scalar Somatognosics, Cardiocentric Resonance, helping relationship, conscious witness, informational decoherence, field of presence
